Who Makes The Most Income?
Extending on the discussion of Who Pays The MOST Tax, we should also examine who makes the most income. We used data from the IRS to summarize and present information in a (hopefully) more understandable manner… especially given that so many misconceptions are held not only by people all over the world, but also by our own citizens. This is undoubtedly a result of people with political agendas, including many politicians and the mass news media, repeating half-truths and outright lies constantly.
Our previous analysis shows the top 10% (based on taxable income) of the U.S. taxpayers pay 70% of all income taxes… hardly a case for the oft heard “the rich don’t pay enough taxes”.
This begs the question… how much of the income does that top 10% earn?

Adding this to our previous graphic that showed the percentage of income tax paid, we can now get the full picture.

As you can see, while “the rich” earn more money than most (by definition), they pay even more in taxes. Those who purport that the rich pay less in taxes than the poor is factually wrong.
