Illegal Voting
Every election cycle, the topic of illegal voting comes up in the news, but it seems especially visible this time around. Typically, it’s some minor situation that gets a few minutes of air time and then fades away. That’s not the case this year. Perhaps we’ve reached the point where internet news sources, blogs and such, where any activity will not only be noticed but published. If there IS illegal voting, or even attempts to vote illegally, I’m all for it being made as public as possible and the perpetrators should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
When someone “steals” a vote, and it runs counter to my beliefs, it effectively cancels my vote out… makes it null and void. Voting is a precious right and I cannot stand still if someone… ANYONE… regardless of party affiliation… does something that, for all practical purposes, takes away MY vote.
No matter what your stand is politically, you should believe the same thing. If you and I happen to vote “against” each other, fine… we have both expressed our view and let the chips fall where they may. If, however, either your vote or my vote is canceled out by an ILLEGAL VOTE, then one of our most precious Constitutional rights has been abridged. From a political perspective, that situation makes us a slave… our voice has no value.
Under the laws of many states, convicted felons forfeit their right to vote. In reality, though, many actually do vote.
In Washington:
“An extensive computer analysis, independently conducted by KIRO Team 7 Investigators, found that Wilkinson is just one of 23,927 criminals on the active voter database.
6,812 of them are considered “very likely voters” because they already cast a ballot in other elections this year.”

Is this an isolated case? No.
In Florida:
“More than 30,000 Florida felons who by law should have been stripped of their right to vote remain registered to cast ballots in this presidential battleground state, a Sun Sentinel investigation has found.”

If it is the law, why should they be able to vote? The law is the law. One thing Americans like most is fairness. Nobody should have an unfair advantage in business or any other endeavor. Those who cheat should be punished.
Should you have a problem with the law, if you believe convicted felons should be able to vote, then the obvious solution is to put forth some effort and get the law changed. But so long as it IS the law, it should be enforced.
I am outraged that some bureaucrats place their personal agendas ahead of their sworn duties — and in outright defiance of the law — take it upon themselves to actually support an illegal action that steals the votes of others. Not only should those who vote illegally be punished, those who allow it to happen should be punished!
