Power (and Money) Grab
As cynical as I am, I actually expected more… but the current economic situation is being viewed by politicians as just another opportunity to grab money and power. Business as usual… but on a much grander scale.
Even if they went to Washington with sincere intentions and a pure heart, there must be something about being exposed to the rareified air in Congress that affects the rational thought processes of our elected officials… I’ll call it Distorted Importance and Power-hungry Syndrome (DIPS). I’m being generous when I allude to their original status… I am confident the majority of them already have the political disease… they are already DIPS when they get elected to Congress!
Once again, they prove to be less concerned about intelligently solving problems and supremely worried about taking maximum advantage of any circumstance that allows them to acquire more money for their causes and more power for themselves. The latest round of “stimulus plan” proposals is becoming a money-grab of a size never dreamed of before!
Sadly, the majority of us are either oblivious or apathetic… just sitting idly by and letting the DIPS have their way. I am wondering at what point enough of us will wake up, stand up, speak up and say: ENOUGH!
It had better be soon or it won’t matter. It will be too late.
