Republic Rules - The U.S.A. is a great representative republic.

An ongoing discussion of how it works… and why it works.

Less Is More

A smaller government (not to be confused with NO government) means greater freedom for those people under it.  The larger a government entity becomes, the more controlling it becomes… and this is true whether it is a municipal government, state agency, or federal department.  While some control may be good… it prevents chaos… I believe it is better to lean toward too little than too much.

At the core is my acknowledgment that humans are fallible.  Given that, I would rather have power dispersed into the hands of MORE people where, on the whole, more correct decisions are likely to be made rather than putting a lot of power in the hands of FEWER people where bad decisions affect more people.

To make a point, if more government is good… why not have the government control everything?  How about having total government control?  Despite little historical evidence of success of communistic or socialistic forms of government, there are people who do believe that would be good!   Sadly, some of those people are U.S. citizens and actively work to move our country in that direction… they want this nation to be something entirely different than it was intended to be.  That means YOU must be a thinking and ACTIVE voter to defend pressure by these people who are quite determined to see changes supporting their views!

If you enjoy the rights afforded each of us by our remarkable Constitution, you have the responsibility to defend it against efforts to morph it into something it is not… nor was meant to be.

I think it good to focus that defense on the limitation of the size of government, especially the federal government.  Already, I think it has grown too large, too involved in our daily lives.  It has been expanded well beyond the original scope and has assumed powers that were not specifically granted in the Constitution;  it is involved in activities that were, BY DESIGN, reserved for States or us as Individuals.  To add insult to injury, by the very nature of government, those additional activities are quite inefficient and have many unintended consequences.

It is time for citizens to become actively concerned about this issue… if we wait much longer, the size of government (in terms of the number of people employed within the bureaucracy and those dependent on it) will reach a tipping point… after which there will be little or no possibility of return to smaller government… it will be self-sustaining and beyond the reach of regular citizens.

Speaking up, America!  Let your voices be heard!!
