Why do people bash our country?
You don’t have to watch much TV or read many newspapers to find a multitude of examples of “America bashing”, where someone… usually a darling of the media but who has no expertise on the area they are disgruntled about… is spewing all kinds of garbage about how terrible the country is, what horrible deeds it has been responsible for, that it is the worst nation on the planet
Now, I certainly don’t think our country is perfect… but it is truly the best there is based on any OBJECTIVE comparison with most any other country you’d care to mention.
The problem, of course, is you rarely find objective analyses of anything. Everyone has an agenda… but most of the time, people who shout outrageous things are knowingly dishonest.
In court, we’re required to tell the truth, the WHOLE truth, and nothing but the truth. In the media, I worry less about lies. Even though they are widespread, they are frequently discovered. Granted, they are a concern… especially when repeated over and over.
I’m concerned more about what is NOT said. The GAP in the WHOLE story. Parts of the truth purposely left out can distort the rest of the truth. Sometimes, by omitting only a tiny part of the facts, the truth becomes a lie. And the lie then becomes the truth in the minds of many.
