Republic Rules - The U.S.A. is a great representative republic.

An ongoing discussion of how it works… and why it works.

Politicians and Promises

We all know politicians are fast to promise great things in their effort to become/remain popular and win elections… and generally slow to actually, if ever, deliver on those promises.

When politicians fail to fulfill their promises, why do people STILL vote for them?

When politicians take a stand on certain issues and cite their reasons why… and are later proven to be wrong in their rationale, why do voters continue to stand behind them?

When these things happen year after year, term after term, who is most at fault:

  • The politician who continually overpromised and underdelivered?
  • The voter who repeatedly accepted the broken promises?

Some say the definition of insanity is to continue to do the same thing over and over and expect different results.

It’s time to stop the insanity.  It’s time to hold politicians accountable.  It’s time to make our representatives THINK TWICE before saying what they can do for you.  It’s time for voters to admit that some of their representatives have failed to deliver on their promises and deserve no more chances to lie to us again!
