Taxing Fast Food
It’s talked about from time to time… here’s another example:
“The sputtering economy has caused an increase in prices of many staples including gasoline, rice, ice cream, even beer. Now some lawmakers in New Jersey are considering taking food taxes a step further and install a proverbial “sin” tax on fast food.”

George Orwell was more prophetic than Nostradamus! Left alone, government will meddle in virtually every aspect of our lives. This particular issue, though, has support from two directions.
One, the obvious, is just to raise tax money. That’s all. Business as usual for politicians. Little thought on reducing expenses and fast to explore any new way to get into your wallet.
The other faction is more devious, though. They actually want to control your life. And this group is large enough, has enough support, to gain the ears of some politicians to get this ball rolling. I worry about any such intrusive government activity since, if enacted, someBODY will be in charge of deciding what is right and wrong for you and me. WE will lose the right to determine what is good or bad for ourselves and “the government” will be in charge of ruling over OUR every behavior.
I am amazed at the outright audacity of some people who honestly think they should be able to make basic decisions FOR ME. I have no need at all for their condescending attitude and certainly don’t want them to have any control whatsoever over my lifestyle! To paraphrase an old saying, their rights end at my mouth. I will decide what kind of meal I wish to eat, I shouldn’t have to be concerned about the dictates of others, and the tax implications should not be involved AT ALL.
Responsible citizens must be vigilant in opposing every proposal of this type. If the camel gets its head into the tent, it will be hard to turn back even more restrictions on our declared rights to enjoy Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
